JROTC Invited to Nationals
The Oregon City High School Army Junior ROTC battalion's 20-cadet Advanced Unarmed Drill Team has been selected to participate in the Army Junior ROTC Nationals Drill Competition in Daytona, Florida, this coming May. This selection marks a historic first for the Oregon City HS program in its 26-year existence, highlighting its exceptional performance and dedication.
Among the more than 200 Army Junior ROTC programs within the Army's 8th ROTC Brigade—which spans the west coast of the U.S. and the Pacific Theatre—only four teams have earned the honor to compete at the national level. This distinction places the Oregon City HS team among the elite 2.5% of the over 1,700 Army JROTC units nationwide invited to this prestigious event
Notably, the Oregon City HS JROTC battalion is the sole representative from the Pacific Northwest region, representing not only Oregon City High School and the community of Oregon City, but the State of Oregon and the Pacific NW region as a whole.
In addition to their national competition invitation, the battalion has also been invited to march competitively at the Rocky Mountain Regionals in Denver, Colorado, later in April. . This again, is an inaugural achievement for the program.
While the trip to the Nationals is generously fully funded by the Army, the program is actively fundraising for their journey to the Denver regionals. Supporters who wish to contribute to the battalion's endeavors can make donations through the Oregon City HS JROTC webpage. By selecting the "online donations" link at the bottom of the page, donors can directly support the team's participation in both the Denver and Nationals competitions. The program encourages donors to specify their contributions for "the Denver and Nationals trips" to ensure their support is accurately directed.
